ADJECTIVE CLAUSE



Menentukan kata/frasa yang salah yang terdapat dalam kalimat yang menyatakan deskripsi benda/tempat wh-questions

Dalam hal ini, yang harus diperhatikan adalah adjective clause, relative pronoun, adjective in series dan tempat WH questions. Tempat wh-questions Menentukan kata/frasa yang salah yang terdapat dalam kalimat yang menyatakan deskripsi fisik seseorang (physical appearance)/benda atau profesi seseorang. Menentukan kata/frasa yang salah yang terdapat dalam kalimat yang menyatakan pengandaian/pilihan tindakan. Menentukan kata/frasa yang salah yang terdapat dalam kalimat yang menyatakan perasaan seseorang terhadap sesuatu/pendapat seseorang.
§  Adjective clause atau relative clause adalah dependent clause yang berfungsi sebagai adjective dan menjelaskan tentang noun atau pronoun pada suatu complex sentence(kalimat yang terdiri dari independent clause dan satu atau lebih dependent clause).
§  Posisi adjective clause selalu mengikuti noun atau pronoun yang diterangkannya. Di dalam kalimat, noun atau pronoun itu berfungsi sebagai subject atau object.
§  Adjective clause dimulai dengan suatu kata yang disebut relative pronoun (who, whom, etc) yang berfungsi menjembatani hubungan dengan noun atau pronoun yang diterangkan.
 Kenali penanda Adjective Clause (Relative Pronoun) berikut fungsinya: who (subyek orang), whom (obyek orang), that (subyek orang/benda), whose (milik orang/benda), where / in which (tempat), when / on which (waktu). Ungkapan yang berkaitan dengan deskripsi benda atau tempat  adalah kata-kata sifat seperti: long, brown, beautiful, big, black, square, small, round, short dll.

Keterangan: *Relative pronoun (who, which, that) dapat berfungsi sebagai subject jika tidak ada subject.

Contoh ADJECTIVE CLAUSE :
·         Kevin: I will cancel my appointment with the manager of PT. Perkasa.
Secretary: What is your reason, sir? I have already managed your schedule with him.
Kevin: I just got the call from his secretary that He is still on Singapore, as you know that all flights to Jakarta are delayed because of the flood. They will reschedule the meeting.

·         Heri: Do you know why the manager of PT. Perkasa canceled the meeting suddenly this morning?
Secretary: Yes, sir. I got the information from her secretary that his flight was delayed because of the extreme snow  on France. They will reschedule the meeting.
